[My View - 000] on Mobile Phone Usage in schools.

Let’s go back in time and imagine the early use of mobile phones.
People had to carry them with both hands and could only use them for messaging and calling.

Now, in 2025, we have slim handsets that easily slip into our pockets. Technology has undoubtedly advanced over the years, but that hasn’t necessarily made most students any smarter than before.

Instead of serving as useful educational tools, phones have evolved into addictions, profoundly impacting students' attitudes toward learning.

Just like how a stone dropped from a great height causes ripples in the water, advanced technology and online communication have changed the world. Yet smart, educated students are longing for stillness—for the water to become calm again.

Social media has made students all over the world lazier. They are becoming more isolated, and family members no longer spend enough time with each other. Influenced by what they see online, students are beginning to show disrespect to others, turning the world into a bleak room filled with loneliness and darkness.

It’s not just about isolation and mental health—physical health must also be considered. Too much screen time can harm eyesight. Many students stay awake past midnight, spending their time playing video games, scrolling through the internet, or misusing social media.

One of the main reasons parents allow their children to have phones is for travel. Some students, especially those in secondary school, commute daily by train or bus. Parents have become accustomed to needing their children to call and update them on their whereabouts.

But many parents are oblivious to how their children are misusing these phones, and nothing seems to stop students from repeating this pattern.

Instead, students could carry a small GPS tracker in their bags, which connects to their parents’ phones.

In my opinion, phones should be banned in schools. Doing so would give students the opportunity to spend more time learning. Some students are already making use of this opportunity—they are innovators and game changers.

We need more of them.

So let’s make a change. Let’s educate ourselves and realize that the world can be a much better place.

[Book 002] Book Summary & My Review : Hedi - Johanna Spyri

Book Summary:

Heidi is a tale of God's mercy and the beauty of staying true to oneself—of kindness, connection, and the healing power of love. When the young orphan Heidi is brought to live with her grandfather, fondly known as Uncle Alp, her life takes a dramatic turn. Though he was once misunderstood by the villagers of Dörfli as a cold and self-centred man, Uncle Alp begins to care for Heidi deeply. Her innocence and altruism begin to soften his heart.

Uncle Alp, in his quiet moments, often reminisces about the joys Heidi brought into his solitary life. Heidi, meanwhile, quickly befriends the goats and their young shepherd, Peter. Her gentle spirit brings a wave of warmth to the village. After years of silence and sorrow, smiles return to the faces of the townspeople—Heidi had become a ray of kindness lighting up Dörfli like a candle after long, dark weeks.

After some time, Heidi’s aunt Detie returns to Dörfli with urgent news. One of Detie’s acquaintances—Clara, a girl living in Frankfurt—was an invalid, her life confined to a wheelchair. Detie believed that Heidi could help bring Clara comfort and joy. With a heavy heart, Uncle Alp agrees to let Heidi go.

As Heidi leaves Dörfli, it feels as if Uncle Alp’s memories begin to fade, like wax melting from a burning candle. In Frankfurt, Heidi meets Clara, a kind but fragile girl. Despite missing her home dearly, Heidi devotes herself to cheering Clara up. Yet, the ache for Dörfli lingers. Her spirit begins to fade, her cheeks grow pale—Heidi was homesick. Life was no longer merry.

Only when she meets Clara’s grandmother, Mrs. Sesemann, does Heidi begin to find hope again. A woman of strong faith, Mrs. Sesemann teaches Heidi how to pray and trust in God's presence—even in the darkest of times. This faith becomes Heidi’s anchor.

Later, the family doctor, Mr. Classen, recognizes Heidi's deep homesickness and urges her return to the Alps. More time in Frankfurt might not only erase her memories of Dörfli—it might erase Heidi herself.

When Heidi finally returns home, she is greeted with tears of joy from Uncle Alp. She reunites with Peter and the goats—and joy returns to her soul. She had found her light once more. Weeks later, a letter arrives: Clara will visit Dörfli. When she arrives, the peaceful mountain town begins to heal her spirit too. A charming chapter begins for them all.

When it’s time for Clara to leave, Heidi says, “There is no need to be miserable. God knows when we will meet again—and we shall hope that time is soon.”

Book Review:

Have you ever heard of how you should be grateful for everything we have and now we should be kind to people? Well, it's easy to say & hear but many for convey these feelings to others, so here it is a tale written by Jonarthan Spyri - Heldi.

Johanna paints a tapestry, representing now we can show gratitude and kindness to others, like Heidi, who has lighted a spark of happiness in everywhere, slowing making the spark evolve inot a bonfire.

While reading this book, a tinge of emotion sparks in your heart! This book teaches one lesson - that helping others doesn't have to be a huge park of your life. Small acts of kindness can mean a lot to others.

Not only the characters in the book, but Heidi has changed the mindsets of other readers around the world. There are some people, who find showing acts of kindness to other like a part of their day like brushing their teeth, or having a breakfast. We need more people like them, and more books like Heidi.

[Book - 001] Book Summary & My Review : The wizard of Oz - L. Frank Baum

The wizard of Oz - L. Frank Baum

Book Summary

When a cyclone hits the heart of kansas, Dorothy and her dog Toto, end up in muchkinland. Sheer misery has mastered Dorothy, considering the fact that she was far away from her Aunt and uncle. The good witch of the North gave Dorothy all that was left of the dead wicked witch (her silver shoes). Dorothy asked the residents of munchkinland and the good witch if they knew the way to Kansas - to which the witch says that she should meet the Wizard of Oz in the emerald city to get a valid answer.

So Dorothy sets off to the emerald city with Toto. On her way she meets three friends, who want a wish granted, each. The scarecrow wants a brain, the Tin Woodman wanted a heart, and the cowardly lion wanted courage (ironically). So they all head towards the emearld city, their friendship bond strengthening as they take each step further.

At last, when they met the wizard, he stated that he would need something in return to help the four of them - the death of the other witch: the WICKED  WITCH OF THE WEST. That was a bitter pill to swallow. But they potentially had no other option if they wanted their wishes granted. So they set off to the wicked witch, who tried in many ways to kill the four of them but eventually gave up when she saw Dorothy's silver shoes. When the four had defeated and killed the witch, they headed towards Glinda. She was known for helping anyone less fortunate than her. So she granted the friends wishes and when it came to Dorothy, she told her the use of her silver shoes. It cold grant any of her wishes. So Dorothy used her shoes and here the story ended off with Dorothy hugging her aunt Em. So this is the tale of Dorothy, and how her heart erased the wickedness of the world.

My Personal Review:

The Wizard of Oz is a tale of how good defeats evil and that however powerful you are, a heart of true kindness of innocence will always win against you.

My favorite part of this classis is how Frank Baum has structured the story. Unlike the other stories he has focused mainly on the story not the description so it engages the reader and does not make them feel bored. The end of the story makes the reader ponder on the moral more as it is a strong and powerful ending. However, the only that I would say that Baum could improve, is to not start the story in a negative vibe. So that is my opinion on this book. It's a must read.
