All about astronauts

Astronauts are people who travel to space and explore about few planets. The ISS (international space station) is where the astronauts do some science experiments. All the astronauts will carry some food & drinks too. Tim Peake did an experiment with a bubble, tablet, and straw which I saw in my class.

It takes a long time to be an astronaut. So when you are a kid, you have to study lots of science & maths in school. When you go to college you have to spend 3 years of science experiments because most of the astronauts are usually scientists. In your college, there would be many students but only a few students will be chosen to be an astronaut.

Some of the astronauts stay on the moon for days, weeks, or one year. Usually, when astronauts go into space they go with a group but they will also miss their family and friends. When the astronauts return to earth, they share their new piece of knowledge with their family and friends.

In the astronaut's space suite "oxygen purge system" will send the air to the astronaut's nose so that they survive in space without real oxygen. Also, they need to carry lots of oxygen in bags or cylinders.  Usually in your house when you flush the toilet, water comes out from the cistern but in the ISS, the cistern is filled with air which pushes the human waste from the toilet.

All astronauts carry telescopes, moon maps, photo cards...etc. All of these objects have some uses like a telescope could be used by astronauts to see the stars clearly and a moon map tells the names of each crater. All these objects are called "space artifacts".

I know some astronauts such as Neil Amstrong, Kalpana Chawla, Rakesh Sharma,Tim Peake, and Helen Sharman.

As there is no gravity in space the astronauts float in the air like below:
