Corona Virus - 2020

Coronavirus is a severe disease that killed many people around the world. It is also contagious which made a huge impact on many people and their daily life routines/schedules. Every day, more than 100,000 people died all around the world. Read on to explore more about my experience and many interesting facts during the coronavirus period!

In 2020,(during the coronavirus period) I lived in India. While I was living in India, I noticed a huge change in my daily routines because the government told us about Lockdown. Do you know what lockdown is? If you don't know what lockdown is, I will tell few situations and eventually, you would understand the meaning of Lockdown. So, I had school classes online instead of going to school. I couldn't come out of my house. My mum had to order groceries instead of buying them from a shop. My parents couldn't go to work, I couldn't meet my friends. So how do you understand what lockdown means? Yes, it means you can't come out of your house, otherwise, one person (the person who has coronavirus) will spread their coronavirus to you and you will receive coronavirus because of that person.

Ok, so let's go to the "huge impact on many people and their daily life routines/schedules" section. Right, it all began when there was this "rule". The rule was to wear masks and face shields and to keep sanitizing your hands. This "sanitizing" thing was killing me. Do you want to know why? Because, while I watched the entertaining programs on my TV, and the advertisements were coming up, the only advertisement I could see was about this Doctor saying, "Use Dettol, it kills 99.9% of bacteria on your hands. Buy one, Get one FREE!" by wearing a white suite and standing beside a picture of a family. A few times, I think that there are more sanitizer advertisements than the entertainment program. Also, I feel extremely horrible if I wear a mask. The masks smell terrible, well, to be honest, the masks 'my family and 'I' wear smell terrible.

I will ask you a question now. Do you know what quarantine is? Are you saying yes, then read on for further information. Are you saying no, then, I will explain to you. Imagine you are living in Russia and you have to go to UK /any other country for an emergency. So the government said that if you are going on a journey to a different place, you have to stay in a place provided by the government for fourteen days. Now you must be wondering,'' Why in the world would the government keep us in a place provided by the government if we want to go on a trip?". The thing is that the government will make sure that you are safe to go on a journey by giving you covid tests, making sure you don't have covid, so you don't spread it to other people who surround you and providing you with food, water, shelter, and safety during the fourteen days. So, quarantine is the place provided by the government where you stay for fourteen days.

Now, I will tell you some interesting facts about the coronavirus. Have you heard of Covid- 19 and Covid Pneumonia? I am sure all of you know Covid 19(the coronavirus period in 2019). But, do you know Covid pneumonia? If your answer is no, read on. Covid-19 and Covid Pneumonia are different stages of the same illness. Covid Pneumonia was first identified in a place in China called Wuhan on Thursday, December 26, 2019. Do you want to know an interesting fact? Ok, Zhang Jixian was the first doctor to discover coronavirus. Also, did you know that Covid stands for CoronaVirusDisease - Co-Corona, Vi-Virus, D-Disease? Also, the first death caused by coronavirus was reported on January 11th, 2020 by the Chinese State Media. So, are these facts interesting? If they are interesting, read on to explore more about covid!

Now you must be wondering, was there medicine for covid? Obviously, there was a medicine! In fact, there were medicines. Nirmatrelvir, Ritonavir, Remdesivir and Molnupiravir are antiviral medicines for coronavirus. Also, the students who are studying at Oxford University have created a vaccine for coronavirus which is called: ChAdOx1 nCoV-19. There are a few vaccines that are known as the safest vaccines such as the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Also, I and my parents had a covid vaccine. I had the first dose, and my parents had the first two doses. Do you want to know some situations that my family and I experienced? Was that a yes? Then read on!

So now, I will tell you two things that happened during the covid period. It all began when my grandparents came to my house from their hometown to visit us. They stayed at our house for almost more than two months. Then... the government told the lockdown. Guess what, my grandparents had to stay at my house because there were no trains due to the lockdown. To be honest, I was extremely happy because they could stay here for at least two more months. Woo Hooo!!

Now, I just finished saying my first thing, so I will start saying my second thing now. My parents and I travelled to the UK from India as my dad got an opportunity for a job. Our journey was terrible. We wore masks and face shields, I vomited several times on the flight, and we had to sanitize our hands every few minutes. Oh, that was the most horrible journey in my whole life!!

To conclude this topic, coronavirus is a contagious disease which changed many people's lives and routines. Thankfully, many people have discovered and invented vaccines and medicines for coronavirus which decreased the number of deaths around the world due to coronavirus. Now, tell me all about your experience during the coronavirus period and how your life changed or about the huge impact on your daily life routines/schedules!

Kind Regards
Miss Jodha Kondapalli
